The Northwest's Premier Outfitter offering guided fishing trips on Idaho's Clearwater and Snake Rivers, American Falls Reservoir, CJ Strike Reservoir, Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir, and the Columbia River in Washington and Oregon.
This is the news we have been waiting for! Due to an initial run prediction that did not provide enough Summer Chinook to provide a recreational fishery for the upper Columbia we have not had our usual Summer Chinook Salmon season here in the Upper Columbia, but last week managers met and due to a better return than anticipated we will see a Summer Chinook Fishery open on July 16, 2025.
Starting Wednesday July 16 and running on the current 4 day a week schedule for salmon fishing we will be able to keep one adult Hatchery Chinook in addition to 2 sockeye. Salmon fishing is currently only open Wednesday – Saturday, and Chinook will only be open from Rocky Reach Dam to Wells Dam.
We are beyond excited to be able to have some Chinook fishing on this section of river, as we have become known for providing the opportunity to catch both Chinook and Sockeye during the same day. Currently we have open dates. Check out the calendar below to see our open dates.

As I work through a busy schedule this week as we prepare to start our summer travel season, the thing that keeps me going is the anticipation of one of our favorite fisheries of the year. Starting July 1 we will be Sockeye fishing on the Upper Columbia near Brewster, Washington, and with any luck we will hopefully have a summer Chinook opening later in the month.
This is such a fantastic fishery with summer weather and fantastic fishing, making it a great trip for the entire family. In the Brewster area we troll coon shrimp behind dodgers for some of the best tasting salmon of the year. Lots of action is the norm, and with a 4 fish limit there will be a bunch of fish to send home with our customers. Go ahead and check out the pictures below, then give us a call at 208-669-1569 or hit the book online button at the top of the page. We offer a number of different options for this fishery, but we really think our private boat 6 hour trips are the sweet spot. This gives us the best time of day, but also gets us off the water before it gets smoking hot. If your into lots of action and delicious fish this trip is for you!
The month of July will find us on the Upper Columbia River chasing summer Chinook and Sockeye. This is such a great opportunity as we have the best limits of the year. 2 adult chinook in addition to 2 sockeye is our daily limit. We often catch both Chinook and Sockeye on these trips, and there is nothing better than salmon fishing in July. Such a great time of year as we ditch the rain gear for shorts and sandals, and get a full day of fishing in before it gets too hot.
We have openings for this fantastic fishing, so don’t hesitate to contact us and let’s get you summer plans all set up.
Last week our Summer Chinook and Sockeye season opened on the Upper Columbia, and fishing was absolutely on fire! Opening day was one of the absolute best opening day’s we can remember! We had two boats out and early limits where the name of the game. while the rest of the season won’t be quite as on fire as the first two days we will see consistently great fishing for the rest of the month of July.
We are seeing great success trolling both super baits and 3.5 Colorado spinners behind 11 inch 360 style flashers. One of our keys is to really watch out speed and make sure our rods are thumping at about a 1 thump per second interval. It’s a little hard to explain, but this action really leads to more fish in the boat. For this reason we run cannon ball droppers and skip out on the downriggers. Also by running cannonball lead we are able to let all our customers drop lines and be part of the action.
We still have some open dates mid month, so don’t hesitate to give us a call and book your trip. These fish are amazing and we would love to share this experience with you. Enjoy the pictures below, the smiling faces and big fish tell the story. The Upper Columbia Summer of Salmon is an experience you need to be part of.
We have had an absolutely fantastic week on the Hanford Reach of the Columbia River, near tri cities, WA. We continue to catch all of our fish downstream trolling, with both Brads Superbaits and VIP Spinners. Trolling has enabled us to cover a ton of water and locate the fish willing to bite.
If you are looking to get out on the water with us we have just a few days left open. Sunday the 7th, Monday the 8th, and Tuesday the 9th open. Book online on this website or give our office a call at 208-669-1569 and let’s fill these last few dates, before we head home and target steelhead on Idaho’s Clearwater River.
We continue to do very well on the Hanford Reach near the Tri Cities, Washington fishing for Fall Chinook Salmon. Our hot ticket has been downstream trolling both Brads Super baits, and VIP Spinners. By covering lots of water we are able to put our gear in front of the maximum numbers of fish. The fishing here will remain very good well into October. We have 2 seats open the 3rd of October and open boats the 7th-15th of October. Give our office a call at 208-669-1569 or Book Online by clicking on the link at the top of the page.
We continue to do well on the Hanford Reach near the tri cites. Most of our effort continues to be spent down stream trolling both brads superbaits and spinners. Our favorite blades have been the VIP Bronco and Chartreuse Green Dot in the 3.5 sizes.
The Reach can be one of the most fickle and frustrating fisheries around, but when a good plan comes together it makes it worth the effort.
We still have some open dates before we switch over to steelhead at home on the Clearwater. October 3rd has 2 seats open, and we have open boats the 7th-15th of October. Give our office a call at 208-669-1569 to book or book online through our website.
We had another fantastic morning of Columbia River Sockeye fishing in Brewster, Washington. It was a quick limit for our morning group. We still have some room to fish Saturday morning. Saturday will be our last day for the upper Columbia before we switch gears and head out to the Astoria area for the famous Buoy 10 season, and speaking of Buoy 10 we still have a handful of dates left open. Make sure to give our office a call at 208-669-1569 or Book Online.
If anyone is wondering how we are catching these Sockeye we have a previous Blog article on the topic. Click Here.
The Columbia River Sockeye action continues to be very good in the Brewster Pool of the Columbia River. We managed to get a quick limit again today out of the Brewster Pool. This fishery will last as long as the weather stays warm!
