Best Trout Fishing of the year! American Falls Trout Fishing is on Fire!

The water has dropped and the trout fishing has gone into over drive. Brett Jones has been putting an absolute smack down on the big rainbows that call the Snake River below America Falls Dam home. Currently we have been averaging 30-40 fish per day. This is the best time of year to fly fish this amazing section of river. This is an amazing fishery that will go all winter long and into March.

If you are interested is some of the best catch and release fly fishing in the country then give Dani in our office a call at 208-669-1569 and we will get you all set up.

Columbia River Walleye Fishing Report

Had a great start to our day today before the wind came up and blew us off the river. We had 6 fish in the box the first hour. All our fish were caught pulling worm harnesses on 3 oz bottom bouncers. We have lots of open dates for Walleye now – the end of June.

Clearwater River Steelhead Fishing Report

We had another good day fishing on Idaho’s Clearwater River today. Despite the high water and the cold temps we still found a bunch of fish to play with today. Over the past few days our go to approach has been Bobber dogging both beads and eggs. Some days they want the bead rigs and some days they want the eggs. Today it wall all beads. With the high water we have been experiencing over the last week the bobber dogging really lets us present out baits in the soft water near the bank, and keeps our gear fishing instead of being hung up all day.

We only have a couple of weeks left for chasing steelhead on Idaho’s Clearwater Rivers so if you have been thinking about a trip the time to make it happen is now. Give us a call at 208-669-1569 or 208-861-0654 and we will get your trip all set up.

For all Clearwater dates we work as employees of Reel Time Fishing.

Clearwater River Steelhead Fishing Report

We had another great day on Idaho’s Clearwater River. Today was a little slower but the 2 guys I had still managed to land 4 Steelhead and hook a few others. We had some difficult conditions to fish today with rising water, but still had a great day. We have plenty of openings for February and after this water calms down a bit fishing will again be fantastic. All our Clearwater trips are done as employees of Reel Time Fishing.

Snake River Steelhead Fishing is Going Strong

Snake River Steelhead

Take a look at these beautiful Snake River Steelhead. Fishing is great right now out of Heller Bar at the entrance to Hell’s Canyon. These fish are in great shape and it’s hard to beat the scenery. We have dates open this week and next to get in on the action. Give Dani in our office a call at 208-669-1569 and let’s get your Snake River Steelhead adventure on the books.

Clearwater River Steelhead Report

Idaho’s Clearwater River has been fishing fantastic this past week with our boats averaging 7-15 fish landed per day. We have been getting all our fish side drifting both eggs and yarn combinations, and pegged beads. It’s really looking like fishing is going to remain good all winter and we have lots of open dates the rest of the month of January and the Month of February. This is the time of year we experience our most consistent fishing and highest catch rates.  Check out the video below of this weekends crew having a blast catching B-Run Steelhead on Idaho’s Clearwater River.  All our Clearwater trips are done as employees of Idaho Outfitter Reel Time Fishing. Clearwater River Steelhead Report

Despite the low numbers of returning steelhead to the Clearwater River we have been experiencing some very good fishing. When fishing on the Clearwater we work as employees for Reel Time Fishing. Our boats have been averaging 8-10 fish landed per day. We have been having most of our success side drifting pegged beads and yarn and egg combinations.  One of the biggest keys to putting lots of fish in the boat during lean years is to cover lots of water. This is a major advantage of fishing out of a power boat as we can cover 15+ miles or river easily in a day.  We have plenty of openings during January and February so don’t hesitate to get in touch with us to get in on the action.

Also now is the time to get your Columbia River Salmon, Sturgeon, and Walleye Trips Booked. We will be getting after the Walleye full time starting in March. If you have specific dates you want to fish it’s best to get them booked early!

Great Fall Chinook Fishing!

The start to our annual Fall Chinook season has be nothing short of fantastic!  We have been down here in the Lower Columbia River fishing the famed Buoy 10 season and it has not disappointed. We have been getting limits of Chinook most days and we are starting to see a bunch of Coho in our catch.  We still have Thursday the 31st of August open down here in  Astoria. This is our last open date and it is a full open boat.

We also wanted to take this as an opportunity to talk about our upcoming fall seasons. As many of you have heard it is not looking like we will have an opportunity to harvest and fall Steelhead off the Snake or Clearwater Rivers.  This is difficult news to swallow, but we want to make sure you know that there are plenty of great fishing opportunities ahead this fall and because of the lack of Steelhead we are extending our Fall Chinook season on the Columbia River.

Starting the 8th of September we will be jumping back on the migration of Fall Chinook up the Columbia and we will be fishing the Columbia River Gorge near Hood River, Oregon.  We plan on fishing this area through the 16th of September.  These fish in the Columbia Gorge are in great shape as most of them still have more than 100 miles to go before they spawn.  We will fish one of a few locations depending on where the best opportunity for fish is at.  Our most fished areas of the Gorge are the mouth of the Klickitat, Drano Lake, and the mouth of the Dechutes River.  All three locations give you a great chance to take home some great salmon. And the entire Columbia above Bonneville Dam has a limit of two Adult Chinook daily.

We are also planning on extending our Hanford Reach Fall Chinook season through the 22nd of October.  This will give us a great extended opportunity to catch these big Chinook as they state near their spawning grounds on the Hanford Reach.  We often catch some of our biggest Chinook of the year off the “reach” and fishing for these bruisers in the desert of Eastern Washington is a great experience.

We thank everyone for your continued support of Jones Sport Fishing! And without our great customers living our dream on the water would not be possible.

Astoria/Buoy 10 fishing is on fire!

Fishing has really picked up down here in Astoria the past few days! This is one of our favorite times of year when we get the opportunity to target ocean fresh fall Chinook and Coho as they make their fist appearance into the Columbia River. We have a few available dates left August 29th and 30th are open for up to 4 anglers and we have 2 seats available on The 19th, 24th, and 27th. Get in touch with us if you want in on this Astoria action.

Also it is looking like we will have another great year chasing big Columbia River Fall Chinook on the Hanford Reach. We still have some great dates open from mid September into early October.
