Buoy 10 / Astoria Fishing Report.

Buoy 10 Salmon

We had another great day down here on the Columbia River out of Astoria, Oregon today. The bite was not quite as red hot as yesterday,  but we still managed to come in with a nice pile of fish.

We started our day above the bridge on the Washington side. This bite was not as good as the past few days, but we managed to get a few bites and put one nice fish and a shaker in the net. We found our best bite as the outgoing tide went slack down around the Church hole. This was a short lived bite, but we managed to have a very busy hour. The guys had to get back so we called it an early day.

I still have some openings for 2 people on the 30th, and 31st. That’s Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. These are my last open dates before I call it a season for 2016 at Buoy 10.

We still have openings for Hanford Reach Fall Chinook near the Tri cities, Washington. This is a great fishery with a 3 adult Chinook Limit.  This is a great September and early October fishery.   Click the following link for more information   Hanford Reach Fall Chinook20160823_132905.jpg

Fishing has really picked up the past two days down here in Astoria fishing on the Columbia River. Today was especially good. We managed to put double digit numbers into the net today and with the upcoming tides this week should see lights out fishing.  I have 2 seats open for fishing on Wednesday 8/24 and 2 seats open on the 30th and 31st. These are my last available dates for fishing down here at Buoy 10 for the 2016 season. Our next stop is the Hanford Reach starting the 15th of September, and bg the looks of things it will be a fantastic year in Eastern Washington on the Columbia River. 20160822_142101

Buoy 10 Fishing Report

Buoy 10 Salmon

This report is for the past two days, as we had a very long day in on the water yesterday. Fishing over the weekend has been tough for most boats. Some people found decent succes, but for most it was a grind. On Saturday we had a real grinder of a day. For three customers we only landed two chinook, and it took us until 6pm to make that happen.  There were plenty of fish to be caught, but they just did not seem to want to play.

Today was a much better day. We were able to limit out on our hatchery Chinook. We ended up with three nice keepers. We did not get a lot of bites, but we really made them count and we were very fortunate to find hatchery fish as our biters. Today we fished all over the place and never really had a consistent bite anywhere, but we got fish almost everywhere we fished. Our fish today came on both anchovies and herring pulled behind shortbus and Fish flash flashers.

Judging by the action today I really expect this next week to fish well. There are a lot of fish around and the bigger tides we have coming this week should push a bunch of fresh fish into the river. This fishery is a great one and we all have our ups and downs, but by fishing hard and using all the information in front of us we are usually able to get our gear in front of some biters.

We still have some openings! August 17th for up to 4 people, 18th -19th we have 2 seats open, 24th we have 2 seats open, and we have the 30th and 31st open for up to 4 people.

Also don’t forget to get your Hanford Reach fall chinook dates booked. It’s going to be another fantastic year in the “reach” and now is the time to get your dates lined up.

Today was another great day out on the Columbia River near Astoria, Oregon. We had to work hard for our fish today and we ended up one shy of a limit, but the fish that we did get were fantastic fish. We bonked a 28 and 24 pound fish today.

The bite never really materialized for us today, but we got our fish from the church hole and picked up some on the Washington side of the river above the bridge. Also all our fish were caught on herring today, which is a change from the past few days.

We still have some great dates open. August 15th,17th, 30th, and 31st are still open for up to 4 people, and we have seats open the 16th, 18th, 19th, and 24th. Get in touch with us or book online by clicking on the book now button on our homepage. 20160812_124317

Buoy 10 fishing Report

Buoy 10 Salmon

We had another fantastic day on the Columbia River out of Astoria, Oregon today. We had four customers on the boat and we landed a total of 5 chinook and lost a few more than that.

We started our day fishing above the bridge on the Oregon side and the bite was decent, but not as good as yesterday.  We picked up a few fish here before moving up above Tounge Point. The Tounge Point bite never materialized today as it had yesterday. At about 11 am we moved over to the Washington bank at the ship and got into a decent bite at the tide change.

All in all we had a great day on the water and our customers ended up taking home all of their chinook. We still have some openings down here so give us a call at 208-861-0654 and let’s get you set up for a Buoy 10 fishing trip.

Buoy 10 Fishing Report

Fishing out of Astoria, Oregon was fantastic again today. We started on the Oregon side just above the bridge and found ourselves in a wide open bite. I had two customers today and we had 10+ bites in the first hour and a half. We killed two very nice Chinook and culled through a few smaller fish trying to get one big one to round out our boat limit of Chinook.

After our first few hours the fishing slowed down for us and we landed one more nice Chinook that we also decided to send back in search of just one big fish. We ended our day without finding a third fish that we wanted to end our day on, but all in all it was an absolutely fantastic day of fishing.

I still have some openings I have August 15th, 17th, 21st, 30th, and 31st open for 4 seats, and the 16th, 18th, 19th, 24th open for 2 seats. Please check go to the book now button on out home page or give us a call or text at 208-861-0654 and let’s get you a seat booked for this fantastic fishery!  20160810_144455.jpg

Buoy 10 fishing Report

Today was our first actual guide trip of our 2016 Buoy 10 season.  Overall fishing was good today. We started our day fishing above the bridge on the Washington side of the river, and got into a decent bite at the start of the outgoing tide.  After one fish landed and a few other missed opportunities we kind of hit a dry spell. We did some searching and had a few bites here and there, but just could not really get any thing to go until just after low slack.  Just as the tide was starting to push in we found ourselves in the middle of a great bite again on the Washington side of the river above the bridge.  We finished our day going 5-8 with some great salmon heading home with our customers.

For anyone who is interested in fishing this Buoy 10 seasonwe still have some great openings.   We have August the 15th, 17th, 21st, 30th, and 31st open for up to 4 people, and the 16th, 18th, 19th, and 24th open for 2 people to join in a boat.

7/22/16 Upper Columbia River Summer Chinook Fishing Report

Fishing was a little slower today, but we still managed to have a great day on the water. Again our fish were caught with Brads Superbaits in both the cut plug and miny cut plug. Best colors today were “Watermelon” in the mint and “Wonderbread” in the cut plug. Lots of thunderstorms rolling throgh the area caused for some difficult fishing conditions today.

I still have openings for full boats on the 29th, 30th, and 31st of July and then it’s off to Astoria for Fall Chinook and Coho!

7/21/16 Upper Columbia Summer Chinook Fishing Report

We continue to have a great season chasing Summer Chinook on the Upper Columbia River.  Today as well as the past few days our fish came trolling Superbaits behind Pro Troll and Leo Flashers.   We got bit on three separate Superbaits today as well as a #5 copper custom spinner. Our winner Superbaits today were “Hotter Tomale” and “Rotten Banana” in the original series and the “Seahawk” in the cut plug miny 3.0.  We have been stuffing our Superbaits with canned tuna packed in oil.  We are often mixing our tuna with various scents such as Super Dipping Sauce, but today all but 2 of our bites came on tuna directly from the can.  For a great video of how we rig our Superbaits Click Here

We had a very good bite going this morning that really tapered off after the sun got high on the water, so if you are looking for success start early in the morning and fish hard until noon or so.

I still have dates open for this great Summer Fishery.  July 26-31st are completely open for full boats.  After the end of July I head out to the Oregon Coast at Astoria for Fall Chinook and Coho at the mouth of the Columbia River near Bouy 10. We still have available dates in Astoria as well so get in touch with us now and book your next salmon fishing trip.

7/10/16 Upper Columbia Summer Chinook Fishing Report

Upper Columbia Summer Chinook

Fishing for Summer Chinook continues to be good on the Upper Columbia River.  Today we fished out of Chelan Falls near the Beebe Bridge. This is a great area for Chinook as there are a lot of hatchery fish to be found because of the releases into the Chelan River. We hooked a total of 5 fish today. Our hookups came on both Superbaits and Flashers and a custom copper spinner.  Our winning superbait colors today were “Rotten Banana” in the original series, and “Signal Light” in the cut plug miny.  We stuff our Superbaits with tuna mixed with a few of the Super Dipping Sauces. Today’s hot scent was the Anis / Krill.

Our highlight of the day was this 25 pound Chinook that absolutely crushed our gear and ran off 200′ off the line counter.
