Yesterday the Snake, today the Clearwater, with the same awesome results! Fishing today on Idaho’s Clearwater River was fantastic! The Clearwater had been “out” the past two days due to high water caused by heavy rain on low lying snow earlier in the week, but today the river was just dropping into the prime Steelhead green conditions. As you can see by the pictures we had an awesome day. We work for Reel Time Fishing for all Clearwater dates and between us and the other Reel Time Boat there were 25 Steelhead that hit the net. It’s shaping up to be a great spring of Steelhead fishing. Get in touch with us to get either your Clearwater Steelhead or Snake River Steelhead Trips Booked.
Idaho’s Clearwater River has been fishing fantastic this past week with our boats averaging 7-15 fish landed per day. We have been getting all our fish side drifting both eggs and yarn combinations, and pegged beads. It’s really looking like fishing is going to remain good all winter and we have lots of open dates the rest of the month of January and the Month of February. This is the time of year we experience our most consistent fishing and highest catch rates. Check out the video below of this weekends crew having a blast catching B-Run Steelhead on Idaho’s Clearwater River. All our Clearwater trips are done as employees of Idaho Outfitter Reel Time Fishing. For more information on our Clearwater River Fishing trips click Here.
Despite the low numbers of returning steelhead to the Clearwater River we have been experiencing some very good fishing. When fishing on the Clearwater we work as employees for Reel Time Fishing. Our boats have been averaging 8-10 fish landed per day. We have been having most of our success side drifting pegged beads and yarn and egg combinations. One of the biggest keys to putting lots of fish in the boat during lean years is to cover lots of water. This is a major advantage of fishing out of a power boat as we can cover 15+ miles or river easily in a day. We have plenty of openings during January and February so don’t hesitate to get in touch with us to get in on the action.
Also now is the time to get your Columbia River Salmon, Sturgeon, and Walleye Trips Booked. We will be getting after the Walleye full time starting in March. If you have specific dates you want to fish it’s best to get them booked early!
We had a great day yesterday getting back to fishing at home on Idaho’s Clearwater River. Even with a down return the Clearwater is fishing very well and these fish are some of the most amazing that Mother Nature has to offer. Every fish we hooked yesterday took straight to the air. It’s really looking like we are going to have a fantastic year of fishing.
Our Regulations are a little different this year as we are allowed to keep up to two hatchery Steelhead, but they have to be under 28 inches to keep. While this really limits the number of keepers we will find it also has a major impact on fishing pressure and lets us have some fantastic fishing.
We have lots of open dates for both the Snake and Clearwater Rivers. Get in touch with us to get your trip set up. We work as employees of Reel Time Fishing for all Clearwater trips. Contact us for availability and info, but all payment will be made to Reel Time Fishing.
Fishing has been fantastic on Idaho’s Clearwater River. We have been averaging 8-15 fish per day. Today we ended up with 15 big Steelhead to the net. Check out the video below for some of our footage from today.
All Clearwater trips are done as employees of Reel Time Fishing. We have openings next week.
This past week we had a few days of really great fishing and a few days we struggled. The weather this past week was particularly brutal and the days we struggled we were ultimately just fighting the cold and wind. Most of our fish this week were caught side drifting cured eggs and pegged corkies. We fish pegged corkies instead of beads as the rig seems to drift better than a hard plastic bead. During the frigid temps we also like to back troll divers and Shrimp and plugs. This give us a chance to slowly present our baits and keep ourselves warm by the heater.
With the weather improving drastically this week we should see some fantastic fishing. There are an absolute ton of fish in the Clearwater system and fishing should be very good now through March. The last two weeks of January and the first two weeks of February are my absolute favorite time to be fishing the Clearwater! Out of all the 20+ fish days I have had 80% have happened during this time frame. My boat has some openings over the next few weeks and we would love to get you out to see some of this fantastic fishing.
All our Clearwater trips are done as employees of Reel Time Fishing and all final booking will be done through Reel Time. Give us a call or text at 208-861-0654 for availability. For more information on the Clearwater River Steelhead fishing trips we offer click here!

Cold weather means hot fishing on Idaho’s Clearwater River. Fishing this past week has been fantastic. Yesterday both Reel Time Fishing boats had double digit days. My boat yesterday put a total of 11 fish in the boat for three anglers with a total of 6 keepers. All our fish were caught side drifting yarn and eggs single pegged corkies, with eggs being the hotter of the two set ups.
Despite the colder temps the months of January and February are my absolute favorite months of the year for putting lots of big B Run Steelhead in the boat. We have a bunch of available dates over the next few weeks so if you are looking to brave the elements and potentially have the best day of Steelhead fishing in your life get in touch with us.
