We also have some more great news on the Clearwater Chinook front. June 22nd the Clearwater will reopen to the harvest of adult Chinook ( all Clearwater river dates are done as employees of Reel Time Fishing.). We should see some fantastic fishing for that Thursday- Sunday period, so get with us now to secure your dates!!

Also starting July 1st we will be starting our Upper Columbia Summer Salmon season!  This has turned into one of our favorite times of year. 2 adult limit, warm weather, and the possibility of a great sockeye run make July an exciting month!

Hot Action at Drano Lake!

IMG_1513We had a fantastic bite this morning at Drano Lake in the Columbia River Gorge. We hooked 10 and landed 6 to fill a three person limit by 7am. Almost all our fish were caught today of Prawn Spinners with brass or Copper #3 Colorado blades. We did manage to hook two fish on a Brad’s cut plug in the 2.5 size.

We have opening in the Columbia Gorge now through next week, with an open boat of up to 4 people for tomorrow Saturday the 27th and 2 seats for Sunday the 28th.  We also have openings starting Thursday June 1st  IMG_1504

Columbia River Walleye Fishing!

Columbia River Walleye

While we wait for the Columbia River Spring Chinook run to begin its migration over Bonneville Dam we decided to take advantage of the fantastic Walleye fishing the Columbia River has to offer. Today fishing below John Day Dam I pre fished for some upcoming trips this weekend and landed a total of 21 Walleye and numerous bass. Walleye fishing is absolutely on fire right now for these tasty fish. Most of the fish we caught today were 15-19 inches making them perfect for the frying pan. These Walleye are a ton of fun and with no limit on the Columbia River it’s a great opportunity to take home a bunch of tasty fish! We have openings this Sunday through next week fishing near John Day Dam due to moving many of our spring Chinook trips back a week. You won’t be disappointed by booking a Walleye trip with us!

As far as spring Chinook go we really think the first week of May is going to be a best crack at these fish above Bonneville. Again we have open dates and we will be fishing mostly in the John Day Dam area.

We will be back to chasing Spring Chinook this year on Idaho’s Clearwater River ( we work for Reel Time Fishing to run all our Clearwater trips). Don’t miss out on our favorite place to fish Springers!

Also don’t forget to get your summer and fall Chinook trips booked, as we have a great Summer and Spring ahead of us!

Portland Spring Chinook Report 4/6/17

Fishing is finally starting to pick up down here in the Portland area on both the Columbia River and the Willamette River. Today we had a good morning fishing the Willamette in the Portland area. There seems to be a decent number of fish around and fishing should be good the next few days.

Fishing is also starting to pick up on the Columbia River and we expect the main stem Columbia to fish well in the next few days. The Columbia is scheduled to close the 10th of April, but with low catch rates for the last few weeks we really expect to see the season extended a few more days.

Get in touch with us now if you want to get in on this Portland Spring Chinook Fishing. We have open seats the next few days. We will be fishing both the Columbia and Willamette until the Columbia closes and then will shift our focus to the Willamette until enough fish are moving upstream of Bonneville Dam and we shift our focus to the Columbia River Gorge.

We have plenty of open seats over the next month so get in on our favorite fisheries of the year!  Nothing beats a spring Chinook on the BBQ!  We will be following these fish all the way home to Idaho!

Clearwater River Steelhead Fishing Report 2/6/17

Clearwater River Steelhead

Idaho’s Clearwater River Steelhead Report — Fishing on Idaho’s Clearwater River has been absolutely fantastic this past week. February is traditionally the peak of our Spring/ Winter Steelhead season and this past week started with a bang! We work for Reel Time Fishing to run all our Clearwater River Trips, and in fact one on the other Reel Time boats had a 30+ fish day this past week.

We are almost exclusively side drifting now as both yarn/eggs and pegged beads have been our go to setups. We have lots of openings over the next month including this upcoming weekend. We are forecast to have high temps reach almost 50 degrees this week with some sun, so if winter has you cooped up get in touch with us and let’s get out on the water.

Clearwater River Steelhead Fishing 1/23/17

Clearwater River Steelhead

Fishing this past week on Idaho’s Clearwater River was fantastic. On the Clearwater we fish for Idaho outfitter Reel Time Fishing. With the warmer weather of the week (temps in the low 40’s and upper 30’s with some sunshine) we saw much more consistent fishing.  My boat had double digit hook ups everyday we were out, and even had two customers limit out on Friday.  Speaking of Friday’s customers, they were January’s winner of our monthly free trip giveaway!  If you want a chance at winning a free trip with us make sure you click the following link Win a Free Trip!

Again we had our best success side drifting with both bait and pegged beads, with a 70% to 30% favoring the beads.

All of the fishing effort is still takeoff place below the North Fork, as the upper river is still very impacted by ice.

Now through the end of February is our absolute favorite time to fish the Clearwater and we have quite a few openings over the next 6 weeks.

Give us a call or text for availability at 208-861-0654, but all final booking will go through Reel Time Fishing.

Clearwater River Steelhead Fishing Report 1/17/17

Clearwater River Steelhead

This past week we had a few days of really great fishing and a few days we struggled. The weather this past week was particularly brutal and the days we struggled we were ultimately just fighting the cold and wind.  Most of our fish this week were caught side drifting cured eggs and pegged corkies. We fish pegged corkies instead of beads as the rig seems to drift better than a hard plastic bead.  During the frigid temps we also like to back troll divers and Shrimp and plugs.  This give us a chance to slowly present our baits and keep ourselves warm by the heater.

With the weather improving drastically this week we should see some fantastic fishing. There are an absolute ton of fish in the Clearwater system and fishing should be very good now through March.  The last two weeks of  January and the first two weeks of February are my absolute favorite time to be fishing the Clearwater!  Out of all the 20+ fish days I have had 80% have happened during this time frame.   My boat has some openings over the next few weeks and we would love to get you out to see some of this fantastic fishing.

All our Clearwater trips are done as employees of Reel Time Fishing and all final booking will be done through Reel Time.  Give us a call or text at 208-861-0654 for availability.  For more information on the Clearwater River Steelhead fishing trips we offer click here!

Clearwater River Steelhead Fishing Report

Clearwater River Steelhead

Cold weather means hot fishing on Idaho’s Clearwater River. Fishing this past week has been fantastic. Yesterday both Reel Time Fishing boats had double digit days. My boat yesterday put a total of 11 fish in the boat for three anglers with a total of 6 keepers.  All our fish were caught side drifting yarn and eggs single pegged corkies, with eggs being the hotter of the two set ups.

Despite the colder temps the months of January and February are my absolute favorite months of the year for putting lots of big B Run Steelhead in the boat.  We have a bunch of available dates over the next few weeks so if you are looking to brave the elements and potentially have the best day of Steelhead fishing in your life get in touch with us.  For more information on the Clearwater trips we offer click here
